Community-Based Healing Circles (Youth Engagement)

Facilitators work directly within schools, community centers, organizations, and with individuals, using theatre, performance, and creative arts to support expression, emotional awareness, and community connection. Indigenous knowledge, ancestral awareness, and land-based practices are integrated as art-centered cultural expressions, positioning healing as a lived, creative, and culturally rooted arts experience.

Focus Areas

  • Creative expression through theatre, performance, storytelling, and visual art
  • Emotional literacy explored through performative practices such as role-play, character work, and embodiment
  • Story sharing and personal narrative development through performance and creative expression
  • Group dialogue, collaboration, and ensemble-based trust-building
  • Grounding practices integrated into creative work, including breath, stillness, and body awareness
  • Introduction to Indigenous knowledge, ancestral awareness, cultural identity, and connection to place

What Youth Gain

  • Tools to better understand, express, and manage emotional overwhelm through performance and creative expression
  • Confidence in expressing themselves on stage and in community spaces
  • A strengthened sense of identity, belonging, and cultural connection
  • Experience working collaboratively in a creative ensemble environment

Sanctuary & Retreat Program

Community-Based Healing Circles (Youth Engagement)

Community-Based Healing Circles (Youth Engagement)

Participants are invited into a land-based sanctuary and retreat space designed for deeper healing, cultural exchange, and creative exploration. Rooted in Indigenous knowledge, ancestral wisdom, and land-based practices, this immersive experience integrates theatre, performance, and creative arts with nature, agriculture, and community engagement.

This space serves as a site for restoration, reflection, and reconnection, where individuals and groups can step away from daily pressures and engage in a slower, more intentional way of being.

Core Elements

  • Nature immersion and environmental awareness
  • Land stewardship practices (caring for, tending, and understanding the land)
  • Introductory agriculture (planting, harvesting, soil care, and food systems awareness)
  • Ritual practices for release, renewal, and grounding
  • Dreamwork and subconscious exploration
  • Creative expression through theatre, movement, storytelling, and visual art
  • Guided ancestral reflection and connection
  • Cultural exchange practices rooted in Indigenous and land-based traditions

Land + Agriculture Integration

Participants actively engage with the land as part of their healing and learning experience:

  • Learning how to plant, tend, and harvest food
  • Understanding the relationship between soil, water, and life
  • Exploring traditional and ancestral agricultural practices
  • Participating in daily land care (watering, clearing, preparing soil)
  • Connecting food, nourishment, and emotional well-being

What Participants Experience

  • The opportunity to slow down and disconnect from overstimulation
  • Reconnection to self, community, and land outside of daily pressures
  • A deeper sense of emotional reset and self-understanding
  • Engagement in a collective, land-based community experience
  • Connection to ancestral knowledge and cultural practices through lived experience

Global Afro-Indigenous Immersion

Community-Based Healing Circles (Youth Engagement)

Global Afro-Indigenous Immersion

Participants engage in international cultural exchange experiences with Afro-Indigenous communities, grounded in Indigenous and ancestral practices, arts, and land-based knowledge systems. This immersive program centers learning through direct relationship, creative expression, and lived experience, guided by elders, cultural practitioners, and community leaders.

Focus Areas

  • Learning directly from elders, artists, and cultural practitioners
  • Engaging global Black and Indigenous traditions through art, performance, and storytelling
  • Practicing cultural humility, reciprocity, and exchange
  • Exploring how Indigenous and ancestral knowledge informs contemporary life and creative practice
  • Developing leadership, responsibility, and community-centered thinking

Participant Outcomes

Participants return not only with knowledge, but with a deepened sense of responsibility:

  • To apply what they have learned within their own lives and work
  • To share knowledge through creative expression and community engagement
  • To step into roles as grounded, culturally aware leaders

Program Status Update: Global Immersion

The Global Afro-Indigenous Cultural Exchange program is currently on temporary pause due to evolving global conditions, including regional conflicts, climate-related disruptions, and funding alignment.

This pause reflects our commitment to:

  • Ensuring participant safety
  • Maintaining ethical and respectful engagement with host communities
  • Upholding the integrity and intention of the program

We are actively working toward relaunching this experience when conditions are stable and supportive for meaningful, reciprocal exchange.
